Driver Licence Renewal
You will need to renew your licence every 3 years.
What you will need
- A recent colour passport type photograph of yourself.
- Medical Report (if applicable) that must be less than 4 months old at date of application.
- DBS Certificate (if applicable) that must be less than 1 month old at date of application/be registered on the DBS Update Service.

- Right to Work Share Code www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work
- DVLA check code www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
- A credit or debit card to make payment.
Safeguarding training course
All existing licence holders must attend safeguarding refresher training every 3 years. Failure to undertake the training within the specified timescales will lead to the suspension of your licence until such time as the training has been completed and a certificate has been provided to the Licensing Team. Apply here for new or renewal driver licences for either dual or private hire driver licences.
If your licence has expired, you’ll need to apply for a new licence at the full cost.
You can renew your licence at a reduced fee if you return the application form at least 7 days before your licence expires.
It is your responsibility to check the expiry date of your licence. We will not send you a reminder or any other documents.
Please refer to our step by step guide for new applicants to ensure you still meet the relevant criteria to hold a valid licence, e.g. medical assessment.
We will not refund any licences.
